Welcome. This podcast is part of my exploration of the trope or structure I call the Good Girl. After years in the world of comedy—studying, performing, and teaching improv at The Groundlings and at my own school in NYC—I began noticing something pervasive: many women with bold ideas and sharp instincts would quietly hold themselves back, often in the name of being “nice,” “supportive,” or “getting it right.”

What began as an observation in the comedy world soon revealed itself to be much bigger. I started seeing the pattern everywhere—far beyond the improv stage. The idea grew into a talk I’ve shared not only with comedy institutions, but also with companies and universities, sparking conversations about the cultural expectations that shape how women show up, express themselves, and relate to their deepest wants and instincts.

These conversations continue that exploration. My guests range from experts in gender, science, sociology, and cultural change to fellow comedians, creatives, and colleagues who share the same curiosity about how these forces shape the way we show up in the world—and what becomes possible when we begin moving beyond their invisible rules, limitations, and “shoulds.”

Eps 1: An Introduction

Welcome to my podcast! I began recording notes on what I wanted the first episode to be and 57 minutes later that actually became the first episode.

You can jump into any episode that interests you and if you think, WTF is going on, you can then come listen to this.
